God's Will VS Our Will
There is so much going on in the world today. There is so much murder, war, human trafficking, and so many more people boldly cursing the name of Jesus Christ and aligning themselves with the devil. It breaks my heart as it probably does many other believers. And how much more does it crush God's heart?
I have prayed for these things to come to an end and I can almost bet my money (you know, when I get some in my account) that many other believers have had the same prayers. But what I am about to state may be controversial. What if we are all praying amiss? I was listening to a video from Jared, the narrator of AOC (Ambassadors of Christ) Network. Unfortunately, I do not remember the what the exact video was titled. I was semi-binge watching his content so I just let whatever the next video that came on, play. One of the things that he said was that many of the things that we are seeing happening right now has been prophesied and is in God's Word. Myself, and many other believers know this. But what he said next really got me thinking. He said that these things that are happening are in God's Will and when we pray, we must pray according to His will. Yes, I know, this is written in God's Word, the Bible, already. But I guess my ears were just extra open this time or maybe it was the way that the narrator explained it that helped me to really understand what this means.
I always thought, praying for revenge or praying for a countless amount of money to spend and splurge on nonsense was praying amiss. I also thought that praying amiss was praying for something that may seem okay and noble on the surface but with the wrong heart posture. While these ideas are true, I missed something. What if we could have the best intentions but be completely off in our prayers? One of the things that the narrator said that stood out to me was that it will take some of these hard events that are occurring today to bring people to Christ. It's so true. Some people need their pride dismantled, their possessions lost, anything on the earth that they may have been leaning on or putting their faith in to be stripped away from them to bring them to their knees before God. Even for myself, I didn't fully rekindle my relationship with God and chase Him until the lockdown during the pandemic of 2020.
So instead of thinking about our own hearts' desires, let's analyze God's. Maybe God is will to get us to be uncomfortable so that He can comfort us. Maybe God wants us to be in trouble that we would cry out to Him to save us. Maybe God loves us so much that He is will to let us get hurt so that He can wrap His arms around us when we surrender to Him and reciprocate His unconditional love. Many of us are in spiritual danger and God longs to mend our spiritual state before it is too late. Yes God will judge and poor out His wrath over the earth. But He is a parent, a Father, who loves His children does not really want to give them that whooping that they have been desperately asking for through their actions.
Does this mean that we should stop praying about these things? Absolutely not! Instead we must pray that God's will be done, as Jesus taught us. We must pray for the hearts and souls of the people involved in these horrific situations. We must pray that they come to know Jesus if they don't and pray that they do not get weary in their faith. I know that this may be controversial but I really felt the need to express this and have been considering this all day. I always pray that God's will be done during my prayers or I pray in the Holy Spirit to avoid praying amiss but this just gives me a fresh perspective. Let me know your thoughts. Oh yeah, now I think remember the title of the video. I believe it was The Power of Prayer.
God Bless you!
Love you,
